If you understand that SM is just an MUA, then you know that SM gets all
its authentication info from the IMAP server.  It does not authenticate
anything on its own.  If your IMAP server is set up as such, then SM
will "just work".

Please be more specific about what you are attempting to do.  Sounds
like maybe you have some other web application you want to make SM a
part of?  If so, there is no easy answer, as session data has to be
shared between the two.  There is a LOT of help for this kind of thing
in the mailing list archives.  Please check there.
