top-posting is where you put the complete text of your reply at the top of a reply message, out of context with the text of the message you are replying to. in-line replies on a point-by-point basis are not only more useful to the posters, but easier to read for others and helps jog the memory of ppl who are involved in too many threads to remember them all so intimately
That's one opinion. I, for one, like top posting. Who would want to read through every previous post to get to the new one? Especially true on a long thread. I'd rather see the chain of events as they occur. The ability to understand the current posting rests right below. It's the beauty of top posting.
In-line replys are probably better, but you're a champion of bottom posting, p dont think. Well, think for a moment.
We all get stuck in our habits. That is not to say one habit is superior to another.
Except that top posting is inherently better than bottom posting.
Just like nit-picking is inherently inferior to understanding.
