I use the vlogin plugin and my Squirrel Mail is not installed in any
directory that needs root. All I did was ensure the Web Server had the
virtual domain setup with there Server Root pointing to the one Squirrel
Mail install and vlogin does the rest. Worse comes to worse create a
symbolic link between a folder in their Web Space to your Squirrel mail
directory and make sure the Web Server can follow SymLinks for that link.

The problem is that I do not have access to the root of the server. I have
so many ip addresses that I can use. The server was setup using a program
called Ensim Pro. This program installs and earlier version of Squirrel
Mail for each domain that is set up. I then go and upgrade.
Depending on who the domain is for I will install certain of the plugins.
I always install the admin plugin because I do not have shell access except
with special permission. The calendar is always installed. I also upgrade
to the latest stable version. This works for me and my customers stay
happy. It's not ideal, but I can deal with it.
