indeed, i should have provided more details. but i had been running a
webpage (wordpress) for months and i use webdav and other interesting
stuff through apache that i can perfectly access from the internet, so
i was surprised squirrelmail always returned that stupid error. to
answer your question: the directive ServerName is 'localhost', but as
i said that worked always fine. the problem i experienced with
squirrel was the / missing in the url...

for the record: i run squirrelmail 1.4.1 (rpm release) on a terribly
old 300 mhz AMD pc, with 160 mbyte ram and mdk 9.2 running
Apache-AdvancedExtranetServer/2.0.47 (Mandrake Linux/6.10.92mdk)
mod_ssl/2.0.47 OpenSSL/0.9.7b DAV/2 PHP/4.3.2 Server at beat.funk.net
Port 443
