PHP 5 is currently unsupported by the SM development team, however we have
had a number of reports that is it working fine in most cases.

Try updating to a 1.4.4-cvs snapshot from the download page, and see if
this issue goes away.

There was a posting about this a week or so ago.  I cannot remember if it
was the dev or users list, however I submitted a patch to it I think.  if
not, what do you have your memory limit set to?  How about upload file
size? Are any of them negative numbers?
