This is a Stock Mandrake imap distribution. Are you saying that this is broken?
2. It is possible that imap can't create those folders, because somebody broke permisions of Mail directory on IMAP server. /home/some-username/Mail directory must be readable and writeable by user whos name is 'some-username'.

Mail Spools being readable by 'some-username' ? Is this an attempt to permit the Mail user read/write to the spool, or does IMAP require World Read/Write permissions?
