You didn't include any specific information about your SM version or the version of image_buttons you're trying to use so generally, step 3 of the Installation section of the README for the latest release says -- "3) Included are some diff files for the 1.4x and 1.5x renditions of SquirrelMail. Apply whichever diff file via the patch command that corresponds to your installed version of SM. The sm14x.diff is known to work against version 1.4.2 and later of SquirrelMail. The patches affect the following files in the SM_PATH/functions directory: page_header.php AND strings.php example of using the patch command: cd ../../functions/ patch < ../plugins/image_buttons/sm1[4|5]x.diff" Substitute "sm1[4|5]x.diff" with either "sm14x.diff" or "sm15x.diff" depending on your installed SM version.
