I am not sure if this is a squirrelmail or sendmail
config issue.

I am running RH Linux 7.2
Sendmail and Imap server and Squirellmail 1.4.4 (with
vlogin and change password plugins). I am able to send
and receive mails successfully.

However, the sender’s field of all my out going mails
s in this format:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Outgoing FROM address will always be constructed from the IMAP username that is used to log in to SM. If it has a domain portion, that will be used; if not, it will use whatever $domain is set to. You can only override this by going to each user's options->personal information settings and changing "full name" and "email address", assuming you have not turned them off in conf.pl.

How can I perform the configuration such that the
sender’s field of all out going mails is in this form?
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

If you don't log in as "firstname.lastname" then without changing the email address per above, this is impossible.

OR
firstname lastname<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Add a "full name" per above. I think there is a plugin that will force the user to set that up if it isn't already.
