Since 2000 almost every virus, worm and Trojan that tries to spread itself via email fakes it's FROM: address. This is the most likely reason you are seeing the bounces, especially if your email address is posted publicly anywhere or if you've corresponded with someone who has one of these malware installed on their computer. You are by no means the only person in the world experiencing this and I'll pretty much guarantee that it's only going to get worse, at least in the short term. > There is also something stopping me setting up usable folders in that > email system- I can set them up, but not move any emails into them. Do you see an error? If so, what is it? What version of squirrelmail, php, imap and exact plugins are installed? What is your squirrelmail configuration? http://www.squirrelmail.org/wiki/en_US/MailingListPostingGuidelines I suspect that you are not the Squirrelmail administrator so much of the help that we could provide probably won't be useful to you and vice-versa. > Also, today, I have attempted to reply to an email- business related, and > in the first line of typing- the email vanished, and I discovered a dozen > emails have been sent to the reply address. It sounds to me like you need to find another e-mail provider, especially if you're not getting any help from them. I would presume that you're paying them to provide you with a working service so you should be working with them, not us. The majority of the members of this list are Squirrelmail users like yourself and it's pretty unlikely that the administrators of your mail server are on this list. Speaking for myself and my 36,000 users, we don't have these kinds of problems which indicates to me that they have a misconfigured system or there is some user error on your part. We would need to see mail log entries and the information from the link above to really get a handle on what's going on and provide recommendations. -- Marc ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: NEC IT Guy Games.
