I would suggest that this is better handled by your Mail Transport Agent. You should look at spamassasin plugins for Sendmail Postfix Qmail (your MTA here).
I have a Sendmail / Spamassasin / ClamAV / Procmail setup that works well dropping tagged spam into a spam folder. Idealy is better to refuse SPAM at you MTA than to either read it or be responsible for attempting a bounce to a non-existent mail address. Sending tagged spam automatically to /dev/null is frowned upon as it breaks some of the fundamental trusts of the Internet i.e. if your MTA is offed mail the following can happen 1: Delivery refused 2: Delivery accepted and then bounced 3: Delivery accepted and delivered If you accept delivery and then do not deliver mail to an inbox you are obliged to bounce. If you are not prepared to bounce you must refuse primary delivery. \dev\null is an accident waiting to happen. So how do I prevent those pesky "c*i*Allis" and "Get a > Better Rate" e-mails? Is there a spam blocker feature on Squirrel Mail? If > no, is it possible for me to download one? > > Thanks. > > > D.S.
