Plenty of thoughts but I would need  more detail to narrow it down. How about 
we start with these:

1       Check your 192.168.10.9 system to make sure that there is a mail server 
running on it.
2       Check the mail server config of your 192.168.10.9 machine to make sure 
it is 
allowing connections from your mail server.
3       If your web server and mail server are on opposite sides of your 
firewall, 
double-check your firewall setting to make sure you are allowing what you 
think you are allowing.
4       While you are on your firewall check your NAT settings. Are you sure 
that 
you have all the addresses correct for the web server and the mail server.
5       Hey remember those NAT settings, does your SMTP server actually appear 
to be 
192.168.10.9 to your web server?
6       If none of that works, can we remove the firewall from the equation 
(for 
testing purposes)?
