Hi!

IT GOT SORTED OUT..

The problem was with  getHashedFile  function, it was not converting "\" into "_" .

At our place we have to authenticate to mailserver using "domainname\username" fromat.

When Squirrel tried to create .pref file with "\" in file name it was not able create, as windows will not allow special  character in file name .

After editing the prefs.php as per our requirement. Things are smooth.

Thanks a lot every one ...

Regards,

Hi!
I would first like to Thank you for your reply..

The fiddling done in apache's httpd.conf was :
I added a alias for squirrel mail.
then I removed it.
that's it nothing much..
If you can help me with a working httpd.conf or if you want to have a look at my httpd.conf, I can send that file.

My config.php has this setting

$data_dir                 = SM_PATH . 'data/';
$attachment_dir           = SM_PATH . 'Attachments/';

The physical folder location is:
C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache\htdocs\squirrelmail\data
C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache\htdocs\squirrelmail\Attachments

both these folders have, everyone full control.

I'm pasting the apache accesslog before & after the problem:

This is the access log of apache which let me log in & acces my mailbox ..

The logical answer is to unfiddle what you changed. We're not going to
sit here and guess at what YOU did until we happen to hit on the magic
combination. Since you've provided no specific details about those
changes, what your error logs are showing or what you've attempted on
your own to resolve the problem we can't really help.
