OpenLDAP disallows v2 bind by default. PHP uses v2 bind by default. Use latest stable SquirrelMail version, configure address book in Address books menu and set LDAP protocol to 3. Make sure that PHP ldap extension is present. SquirrelMail LDAP address books are visible in address search pages. Start writing email, select addresses button and check if configured ldap server is visible in dropdown box.
