Thanks Tonni - smtp server is on the same server, as is qmail / php / apache / mysql and SM.
The original problem is that the "Compose" and subsequent "Send" of an email when testing my servers SM install on the internal IP works okay. But when testing the internet facing address through our firewall the "Send" function appears to fail, the right hand part of the screen does not appear BUT you do get the email. And none who have found > an answer have the exact same problem that I'm facing ;-) Unless your smtp server is on the outside of your firewall, the firewall should make no difference at all, as long as the SM port is open (80 - ugh - or 443). I can't recall your original post as to how your site is set up, but at my own site, SM, Courier IMAP and Postfix are all on the same server. Of course there's a firewall with strict rules between the Internet and it and port forwarding to the server in the DMZ, as well as a firewall between the DMZ and the internal LANs, but the only traffic from SM through the firewall(s) is over port 443.
