My suggestion is that you don't change the HELO name. You should not use the HELO name as a criteria for permitting mail to be sent through your mail server because the HELO name can be faked. I don't know how the Mercury mail system works but there should be a way of configuring it to allow based on the IP address of the sender. Us the IP address of your SM box to allow it to send mail.
