Send yourself a message using both methods to an address that DOES accept it
either way and compare the headers. I have a mail server set up at home with
a dyndns MX that I use for stuff like this. It only has one address on the
local server and accepts pretty much anything addressed to that username. It
gives me a nice clean set of headers to work with when there are oddities
like this. Very short list of Recieved headers to dig through and no
extraneous spam or virus scan markup.
