This isn't related to squirrelmail specifically, but any one that checks
an IMAP server for new messages would work. You'd have to verify with
your e-mail provider what your IMAP server is and whether you can check
it outside of Squirrelmail.

And you can search this mailing list for a thread a while back that mentioned several such tools. Otherwise, we have no resources here for that kind of thing.
