Thank you for reporting this. There are numerous things to fix to make SquirrelMail work well together with PHP v4.4.0, but I don't remember if a fix for the error you reported is committed to the CVS. You didn't mention your SquirrelMail version, so I'm assuming v1.4.5. In the mean time, you might want to try v1.5.1 [CVS] since that version is more prepared for PHP v4.4.0.
