Actually, it works quite well.  The correct analysis is that you didn't
set it up correctly.  Use the full path to the hostmap.dat for starters.
 Show output of $vlogin_debug (why does everyone ignore it when I ask
for it?).  Did you change all other settings back to their defaults???
