I did an IMAP test. Here is the IMAP result from two different messages.
Message with this result doesn't show the attachment in SM:

Squirrelmail 1.4.5
Red Hat Enterprise (webmail)
Mailserver: Eudora Internet Mail Server 3.14, Mac OS 9

If your IMAP server fails to report correct message structure,
squirrelmail can't detect attachment.
