Ok, now something else... (sorry for all the questions!!)
I am trying to install Japanese support with squirrel.
If you want to check php configuration, you must use phpinfo()
Japanese support is working. When I change the language option to "Japanese", all the menu items, buttons, etc. are in Japanese. Also, I can read (and presumable write) Japanese messages.
However, I have not been able to read Japanese messages with the language option set to "English". Is this normal? Or again, am I doing something wrong.
I changed "default encoding" to "UTF-8" in my conf.php. I didn't see any other settings to try.
BTW, if this is by design, I think it is a flaw... but that's just my opinion...
