It's not the format of the email that is the problem, it's the format that
is being written to the file.  uw-imap requires a very specific format for
it to work properly and it appears that whatever is writing to the spam
file is not doing it properly.  You should consult the documentation for
your MDA (procmail in this case I guess).  This isn't a SquirrelMail
issue, all clients would be affected by it.
