I doubt the PHP version number is going to make any difference.  The
problem is with the session cookie having the value "" (empty string), and
the session_start doesn't like it.  This is in the dev branch where Marc
introduced the SM cookie stuff.  Though the session.auto_start might be a
good value to double check.
