I am back, I looked a bit a the last updates on Courier-Imap on FreeBSD and it seems there was a bug on it because in any situation Courier-Imap was always compiled with FAM support and this is just what we don't want.
So I compiled last Courier-Imap (4.0.6) on the system with no FAM support. I also changed a bit my squirrelmail config by setting the Imap daemon to listen on localhost with no ssl encryption instead of listening on hardware interface with ssl support. Now when I get the characteristics of our Imap server I get next entries : [EMAIL PROTECTED] [/root] # telnet localhost 143 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost Escape character is '^]'. * OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 UIDPLUS CHILDREN NAMESPACE THREAD=ORDEREDSUBJECT THREAD=REFERENCES SORT QUOTA IDLE ACL ACL2=UNION STARTTLS] Courier-IMAP ready. Copyright 1998-2005 Double Precision, Inc. See COPYING for distribution information. ... but this does not change anything. When I click on a folder containing 12.000 mails it takes 25 seconds to get the headers.
