Thanks, Tomas   I'll do some switching and try that out.   I must have not been clear, the users are only using Squirrelmail, there isn't a Japanese email client that is incompatible, that I've noticed.  It's just that there are Japanese users sending in iso-2022-jp to English users who can't read the email.  All the users are on squirrlemail, but some on different versions, some 1.4.3   Thanks again.
