Hi everyone, I have hmailserver/SM 1.4.5 installed on a windows 2000 AS box with dual Pentium 4 Xeon 3gig processors, 6 Gigs of ram, and an 80 gig 10K raid volume. Everything works without errors but I am finding that the system is running very slow with log in times taking as long as a minute even with users having a few emails and 1 or two added folders. The largest user has 250 emails, 4 additional folders, and his log-in/inbox crawls. I am trying to get a handle on what I can do to speed up the system short of throwing hundreds of servers as load balanced Imap/smtp servers. I am hoping that some current users can shed light on how they manage to support thousands even hundreds of thousands of users. Whether they have separate Imap/smtp servers and what they are using. I believe SM is a superb project and having this knowledge will help many individuals finding themselves in my position. Regards, Scott HI again everyone, I need to clarify my first message a bit more :-). I have tried the server sorting and other speed enhancing tips from the list with varying success or impact on the speed of my setup. When I tried the server-sort in the config file I get the errors below which I was unable to find mention of anywhere in the list. ERROR: ERROR : Bad or malformed request. Query: SORT (ARRIVAL) ISO-8859-1 ALL Server responded: Incorrect mail number I am asking for the advice from those users who I have seen in this list mention their member base as being 60,000 and I seem to remember a few mention having over half a million users in their system. My goal is to of course fix my problem but also to contribute to the project by putting together a system guide for all new and existing users to be able to download which will include common mis-settings during the initial setup of SM. I am not sure if there exists one already but if there is one, I have been unable to find it as of yet.
