Sourceforge's mailing list software does not handle base64 encoded emails
correctly. I don't see a reason why base64 was used in your first email.
Email text is 7bit.

1.5.1+ needs different changes. I think they all are in mailbox_display.php.

Theoretically it can be implemented in plugin, but plugin must handle
message listing code differences between 1.4.x and 1.5.1+ and message copy
function is needed in 1.4.x.
