Why would there be?

If you had a network mount, you could probably make it work, so the
home directory could be traversed to.  I don't know what else you are
expecting.  Magic?

My recommendation would be to stop using local accounts for mail users
for which there are several well-known ways to manage autoresponders
remotely.
