Strato is indeed a paid service, second largest web hosting outfit in
Europe. They have an own IMAP daemon implementation that shares neither
code nor necessarily behaviour with other implementations.

Certainly nobody else can. My recommendation is to contact Strato's
customer service. Maybe a bug has crept into the productive IMAP daemon,
and it will be their own interest to get feedback on this so they can
fix it ASAP.
