the rws part is called the "sticky bit" and it's necessary for security purposes. You may want to change it back sometime relatively soon. Also, when you change permissions on a cgi-bin fileyou don't need to restart Apache.

im quite new here sir, are you talking about the /var/www/cgi-bin/sqwebmail ? yes i noticed its permission is like this:

-rwsr-xr-x so i made it executable
-rwxr-xr-x and restarted apache (although not necessarry?)

still i have the error..The requested url was not found..
and same error when i manually execute the sqwebmail file..

cache-control:no-store
Pragma: no-cache

Internal Error (module sqwebmail.c line 2378)

i could show you a log but /var/log/httpd/ directory is empty..

Sounds like you may not have the sqwebmail cgi set as executable or your
apache isn't working with the cgi-bin directory correctly. Use chmod to
change the execution bit on the sqwebmail cgi.

Assuming you have a web server installed, i.e. apache, is it

running?

Are you able to bring up any other web pages? The apache test page?

Do

you have qmail installed?
