I Chris, I have the same problem some time, the solution is not to make 
consecutive logins, unfortunattly the only solutions that I found was to put 
a crontab to make reload to the authdaemond from 5 to 5 minutes. 

I could be the same problem.
When this happen again try to restart the authdaemon.
Also, I have this problem with small usernames, like [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I upgraded to a new version of sqwebmail and now am experiencing a problem where it can take 15-20 times of consecutive logins before it actually works. Otherwise I get invalid username/password. But it eventually does work by brute force. :)
