no, I clicked on "delete folder contents"... ;-)
It would just be cool to purge a folder without "select all" etc. since sometimes I have so much spam there that even the biggest message count per page won't show it all.
Semantically, I thought "delete folder contents" would do just that.

You are asking to delete the folder itself. The Trash folder cannot be deleted.
If you want to delete Trash's contents, open the Trash, and use "Select All"/"Delete" as often as needed to empty the trash.
