apt-get, and downloaded the sqwebmail-3.6.2 package. Here are the options
I gave
it:

./configure --enable-softtimeout=900 --enable-https --enable-autopurge=10
--enable-cgibindir=/data/www/cgi-bin/ --enable-imagedir=/data/www/htdocs/sqwebmail/
--enable-imageurl=/sqwebmail/

The make configure-check command tells me:

SqWebMail CGI will be installed in /data/www/cgi-bin/
Images will be installed in /data/www/htdocs/sqwebmail
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/sqwebmail-3.6.2/sqwebmail'
URL to the image directory is /sqwebmail/
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/sqwebmail-3.6.2/sqwebmail'

I tried to install an older package as well - version 3.5.0 - with the same result.

Looks right to me.

Having read your entire message, I don't find anything in there that actually claims the existence of any problem.

Specifying the default folders used by the .deb package didn't work
either.

If you are a car mechanic, and someone tells you that their car doesn't work, do you think you have enough information to know what's broken, and how to fix it?
