I did this for sqwebmail 1.0, more or less.

the patches in this tarball add style tags to the hardwired html, and
the classes.txt file contains a list of the classes I used.  I took the
liberty of adjusting the default colors to fit my tastes as well, but
they can be over-ridden.

enjoy, and fix it up for 1.0.1, if you like
