You should go to the directory where you configured and compiled
sqwebmail and run authlib/authtest. It'll show you the syntax:
$ cd /usr/src/sqwebmail-1.0.2
$ authlib/authtest
Usage: authtest [-s service] [ -m module ] userid password
$ authlib/authtest [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Authenticated: module authvchkpw
Home directory: /home/vpopmail/domains/epostal.com.br/G/daftm
UID/GID: 0/503
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

You should pay special attention to the [home|maildir] field.
