I guess you have copied into /etc/crontab the exact line that was shown
after make install has finished.
well, that line did not work for me either.
there are some issues with the syntax of the su command.
here is the line from my crontab:
30 * * * * root /usr/local/share/sqwebmail/cleancache.pl
it works for me.
