I get this a lot--but not consistantly(after going through my Sent 
folder)--but just had assumed that my (rather short) signature was being 
stripped during a send of the email.  I'm using Sqwebmail 2.0, but I seem to 
recall that this happened in 1.x as well.  I've had no user complaints, 
however and the signature is there in the headers.
