Ken,

I found your post quite funny.. especially the "unsubscribing being the
only safe option" bit.. haha.

Firstly, all sizable mailing lists get spammed... and no it's got nothing
to do with the userlist being available.

Secondly, if a crappy little "pseudo-virus" causes you alarm, especially
considering that lately, virii are written by morons for a specific OS and
a specific MUA, and that you have to EXECUTE the damn things to be
affected, I'm wondering what you're doing on a very specific technical
list.. I hope you're not managing a mailserver.

Rule #1: never, ever execute *anything* that comes from an untrusted third
party.

Rule #2: never, ever execute anything that comes from friends unless you
trust their own technical ability (assuming you trust your own)..

Rule #3: Don't use Outlook or any other M$ MUA - Bad Karma(tm).

Rule #4: If you must use Billyshit Bloatware(tm) - get the biggest and
baddest virus scanner, protector, repairer, destroyer you can get your
hands on and keep it patched and up to date. Keep your OS patched as well.

In my roughly 10 years on the 'net - I have not been affected by a single
virus sent by email.. Bah humbug.
