I am running Courier Mail system 0.35 on a RH 6.2 Linux System. This past
week on the 11th something odd happened. The mail server was receiving and
accepting mail for people, but it was not delivering it. I am using the
userdb option for authentication and delivering messages. So for 2 days
people were not getting mail, but the senders did not know because they were
not getting error messages. I monitor the system with NetSaint Network
Monitor, and SMTP and POP never went down. Is there a better way people
have found to monitor Courier and all of its processes?
I did a ps -aux before and after I restarted courier and all of the
processes were there both times, and this is why I am confused.
After I restarted courier the server delivered all of the mail it had
accepted over the past 2 days. Thanks in advance for your ideas!
