authldap using ldap servers other than openldap

hi-

i'm interested in using authldap with sqwebmail.  from what i understand from 
this mailing list and the INSTALL file, it looks like openldap is required 
for the use of authldap.  is there any provision (or workaround) to use 
another set of ldap libraries?
