Hmm. some revisions back I had simply added a 'refresh' tag of one minute in the relevant sourcecode, so the page would update regularly and show if new mail had come in. it was a while back, and it wasn't that big a deal to me, so i never bothered to add the tag to later revs - but it worked fine and seemed pretty trivial to implement.
