umm, changing the way it looks

Hello dear all, I tryed to change html code and how sqwebmail looks like inside, but it stays with the same look as it was before. I changed some files in that directory: /usr/local/share/sqwebmail/html/en-us what do i do wrong ? I also have a question if i can apply some plugins to the sqwebmail, like sound notification or etc.. do i have any choice ? Thank you very much
