Lars Olav Tveito, Jeremy Kister, Tom : Actually what worked was disabling authdaemon. Changing passwords still works for me... But I wonder why the authdaemond-less operation is never talked about in the docs, and why --without-authdaemon is almost undocumented : you can only find an allusion about it by grepping in the configure script. A line in the INSTALL file would have saved me (and others, I guess) a lot of time and phone calls from angry customers :> Best, Olivier
