I finally figured out what is happening to my web passwords. It works! Sorta.
I have a vpopmail default domain. Sqwebmail lets me log into this domain as just username, not [EMAIL PROTECTED] However, I can't change my password when I log in like this! I can only change my password when I log in as [EMAIL PROTECTED] I figured it out by playing with authlib/authtest in the build directory. Thanks to everyone who replied. Now I just have to figure out how to get it to change the password with default domains, and get it to properly log in with ip-based domains...
