Hi folks,
I posted a question about this the other day and no replies, if this
list is just for ui issues, can someone point me to a list for tech
problems?
My original post is below with info on versions and the problem. I have
tried compiling sqwebmail with and without the default domain in case
that was fouling something, makes no difference.
Also, further investigation shows that my original thought that only
postmaster could log in is incorrect. Some users are able to log in
through sqwebmail and others not. It seems that shorter username/pw
combinations have more problems than longer ones but this is not 100%
either, seems quite random.
Is there a way to have vchkpasswd send debugging information to one
of the log files?
This is particularly frustrating because I talked this guy into switching
from a Windoze based mail server and told him how simple, stable and
efficient qmail/vpopmail had been for me for many years. All he can see
is that his users can't get their mail. Should I go back to vpopmail 4.8.5/
sqwebmail 1.2.0 that is working on my servers? The only problem I have
ever had with that combination is the funky attachment problems, I had
hoped the later sqwebmail would have that sorted.
Again, any hints will be greatly appreciated.

Original post:
I am building a new server and have what seems a very odd problem: For
some reason, only postmaster can log into sqwebmail in all virtual
domains. All other users are refused authentication.
Here is the setup:
RH 6.2 2.2.22-6.2.2 (Yeah, I know but can't get 8.0 to run on this Intel)
Apache 1.3.22
qmail 1.03
ucspi-tcp 0.88
vpopmail 5.2.1
sqwebmail 3.4.0
All of the RedHat updates have been applied.
sqwebmail was configured:
./configure --without-authpam --without-authuserdb --enable-webpass=no\
--without-authpwd --without-authshadow -enable-default-domain=big.com
The domain "big.com" has approx. 600 e-mail users and so I wanted to add
convenience for the greatest numbers. There are a half dozen other
virtual domains on this server as well.
Everyone can log into big.com through sqwebmail with either just username
or [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Everyone can log into anywhere through POP3 using [EMAIL PROTECTED]
No one except postmaster (???!!!) can log into domains other than big.com
through sqwebmail. I have tried deleting and recreating accounts, deleting
vpasswd.cdb, deleting and recreating domains all to no avail.
Does this make any sense to anyone out there? I have used an older version
of sqwebmail on a different machine for years with no problems. This new
setup is very similar to the old machine but with older software.
