:)

That's funny. Being a C programmer, I find SH more confusing than C most of
the time.

C IS a pretty difficult language to learn though. If you learn to write code
with an interpreted language like Perl or SH, you'll balk at the amount of
work and the mental effort it takes to do even the simplest string manipulations.
(Of coarse, you'll also get an idea of the amount of processing Perl does behind
the scenes)

But... when it comes to speed.... C is king! And THAT, my friend, is why I
chose sqwebmail for my customers. It's a little rough around the edges, but
it'll serve at least twice the number of users that a similar PHP or Perl
script will serve on the same machine. That's worth something in today's
economy, I think.

Besides, I like to code, and adding functionality to a workhorse like sqwebmail
appeals to me occasionally. (When I'm not swamped with mundane administerial
tasks)

Not to mention that you'd be a more valuable employee. C code is like magic
to most people. They don't see anything but jiberish. Someone who can make
that jiberish do something else is worth a pretty penny. (Or so I'm told! I
have yet to see my pretty pennies. :-] )

If you're interested, just pick up a "Teach yourself C in 21 days" book at
your local book store. That's how I learned.
