Very unlikely.  I thought it was rather odd too... but the documentation in 
the authldaprc leads one to believe this is where you set the directory.

In any case, I didn't see a configure option for changing the default from 
Maildir.  Is there a way to change this value globally, or do I need to hack 
the sources?
