Howdy. My wife was sending a particularly large email last night (160 lines) and decided to spell check it.
It checked 4 or 5 spellings, then hung and never returned to the browser. I checked the server, and sure enough the process was eating CPU by the truckload. I did this three times last night to reproduce the hang. All three times I was sucessful. All three times used a different process (because I killed the previous CPU hogs). Now, from work, I can't reproduce the hang at all. Perhaps it has something to do with the browser I use at home? I'll try again from home later today. Just thought you folks might like to know. Is there a way to debug things like this and figure out what is causing the hang? Can I run something like ktrace on an already running process? Can I somehow compile sqwebmail with debugging code so that I can trace the sqwebmail process when a CPU hog appears? I get sqwebmail CPU hogs every few days on my server, so I'd really like to figure out what the problem is. My box is a FreeBSD 4.8- RELEASE box. And I've been experiencing these sqwebmail hangs for months now. And I'm not even running FastCGI. :) -- Jesse Guardiani, Systems Administrator WingNET Internet Services, P.O.
