I solve my issue by loosing the utf-8. So --enable-unicode=iso-8859-1. Actually, I didn't even use this param, instread I modified the CHARSET file, in ..sqwebmail/html/en-us. The other weird problem I was having was my fault, I had forgotten to run make install-configure, and weird stuff was happening... ;)

Use --enable-unicode=utf-8,iso-8859-1

I've compiled the SqWebmail-4.0.2 with --enable-unicode=utf-8,iso-8859-1
and the news is that now I'm getting japanese characteres instead of
just boxes, but I still getting some boxes instead of accented
characteres.

Could anybody please point me in the right direction to solve that
issue?

Thanks in advance!!!
