I'd recommend setting up a 5.8 Kamailio server (along with any other necessary services like a DB) in docker compose and trying your script as a basic sanity test. You can read the release notes for each minor version (4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 5.0, etc) as the changes tend to be fairly well documented.
